civil society organisation in Réunion Island to organise a training series
The islands of the South West Indian Ocean are faced with significant environmental, social and economic problems. Ocean temperatures are warming, increasing the chances and frequency of destructive cyclones. At the same time, sea level rise threatens the very existence of these islands. Other challenges include biodiversity loss, shrinking ocean fronts and sand banks, threats to Marine ecosystems are aquatic environments, etc. Some islands also suffer from constrained water supply and even prolonged droughts. It is important to raise awareness on these issues in order for a new, ecocentric, development paradigm to take root.
The Rosa Luxemburg Southern Africa office requires the services of a civil society organisation in Réunion Island to organise a training series on the following:
1. Preparation of a work shop summit on the South West Indian Ocean movement;

3. Workshop summary on the 13consolidated agroecological principles: recycling; input reduction; soil health; animal health; biodiversity; synergy; economic diversification; co-creation of knowledge; social values and diets; fairness; connectivity; land and natural resource governance; participation.
4. Presentation of prior agroecology gardens and principles developed in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Southern Africa office.
5. Discussion of climate change science, threats facing small, vulnerable island states and what should be done to protect them.
6. Discussion of other apposite ecocentric solutions to be adopted in the South Awest Indian Ocean Islands as well as elsewhere in the world.
Output: meeting agenda, meeting summary, visual material.
